So today we are going to explore Buddhanath stupa which is also called Khasa Chaitya. Bouddhanath Stupa was located in 11 km. from the centre and northeastern outskirts of Kathmandu. Boudhanath Stupa is one of the popular tourist areas along with Swayambhunath. The stupa is also a historical pilgrimage site for all the Buddhists around the world. It believed that the stupa contains the remains of Kassapa Buddha and the giant Buddhanath stupa is a gateway to heaven serving as a horizon between the earth and the sky. The eye of Buddha painted on stupa as diversely describe as inscrutable, empathy and impassive. It is one of the UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979. The Stupa was Renovated by Licchhavi rulers in the 18th century and the stupa was build using many kilograms of gold for decoration. The five most promising elements earth, air, space, fire and water are comprised in the stupa's architecture which represented Buddha. The base of the structure three large platforms decreasing in size. The stupa in Sanskrit, it is refers to a dome shapes architecture which is called Chorten in Tibetan. The 36 meters high stupa's massive mandala makes it one of the largest spherical stupas in the world and it also dominates the skyline in the area. The canopy has 13 stages. At ground level, there was a brick wall that has 17 niches and 108 images of the meditational Buddha inset behind copper pray wheels. Around the stupa, we can also see some Bouddha Statue shops, Traditional arts shops, Ayurvedic medicine store and some restaurant where you can find the best foods.
